Curate your own website

The concept of digital gardens challenges the normal understanding of publishing content sorted chronologically, as maybe not the best way to build a personal website.

There is definitely some truth in that, as blogs run for long finding stuff in a long list of blog posts sorted by date isn’t very inspiring for a new reader. Categories and tags help some, but for most blog posts, the publish date isn’t the most significant, yet it is how most of us curate our content by default. Because if nothing is curated, how do we find things? The answer is of course to add more links.

I haven’t fully embraced the “digital garden” philosophy, but I do think it is a good idea to add some curation to your own website or blog. Some way to navigate beyond the usual lists of posts, a recommended starting point.

I have added a /topics overview of tags I use, a /bookmarks section with a selection of both own content and other sites, the jigsaw puzzles on a separate page now, as well as /about, /now and /ideas while I was restructuring things.
