Jigsaw puzzles against phone addiction
As most smartphone owners, I think I tend to use it too much. Especially the mindless use where you just take your phone out for no other reason than to fill two minutes with "something".
We have started always having a big jigsaw puzzle, 500-1000 pieces, in progress in our living room. This simple thing has helped me reduce some of my pointless phone pickups at home, because even if it is only for a few minutes, rummaging with a few pieces in a puzzle fills that need for "something to do" where I would normally reach for my phone.
I am sure having a Lego set or some other "project" within easy reach in your home can fill similar needs. And it invites for collaboration and inclusion of other people in the household, which mindless phone checking doesn't do. I can conclude that my average number of phone pickups have dropped significantly in the last couple of weeks, so it is working.
